REGULAR MEETING
June 13, 2007

Supervisor Wright called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance
1. Correspondence (No action required):

2. Motion by O’Mara, second by Ashton, to approve minutes of May 9, 2007 as presented. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.
3. Treasurer’s Report for May was distributed and placed on file.
4. Motion by Long, second by Ashton, to amend agenda and address Item 12 at this time. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.
5. Motion by Long, second by O’Mara, to appoint the following persons to the Grayling Township Fire Board of Appeals for an undetermined term. Howard Wood, Lyle Coy, Phil Verdui, Ed Hunt, Chris Lockwood. Per diem as defined by Ordinance. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.

6. Motion by Long, second by Ashton, to amend the Grayling Township Employee Policy Manual, Health and Medical Benefits, Section 1 by adding : Section 1:E as follows:
When employees or retirees, who qualify for the township health insurance benefit under paragraphs A and C above, attain the age of eligibility for supplemental Medicare advantage plans, including Medicare Part D (prescription coverage), those persons will receive a compensation benefit in an amount equal to their advantage plan premium (not including costs for Medicare Part A and B), in lieu of group medical, hospitalization and prescription coverage. If both husband and wife are covered by the township, both must be 65 years of age to qualify for this benefit. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. (See attachment “B”).
7. Motion by O’Mara, second by Ashton, to appoint Brad Summers as Grayling Township Representative to the Grayling Recreation Authority Board. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.
8. Consensus of the Board that if Lovells Township wishes to contract for zoning enforcement they contact the Ordinance Enforcement Officer and negotiate for inspections when he is not scheduled with Grayling Township. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.
9. Request to appropriate funds to repair fire station. Consensus that Supervisor contact Bradley Butcher & Assoc., AuSable Construction and the insurance company to determine extent of costs.
10. Motion by O’Mara, second by Ashton, that the request from the TOP NOTCH, INC. requesting to transfer ownership on 2006 Class C Licensed Business with Dance-Entertainment Permit from Gregory L. Laudenslager, located at 6811 W M-72, Grayling, MI. 49738, Grayling Township, Crawford County be considered for APPROVAL. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Resolution adopted. It is the consensus of this legislative body that the application be RECOMMENDED for issuance. (See Attachment “C”)
11. Motion by Ashton, second by Long, to resolve that Citizens Bank continue to be a depository for Grayling Township Funds and authorize Clerk Monica Ashton and Treasurer Cynthia Olson to be signatories on these accounts and safety deposit box effective July 2, 2007. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.
12. Motion by Long, second by Ashton, to adopt the following RESOLUTION honoring the years of service of RUTH O’MARA, Grayling Township Treasurer.
WHEREAS, Ruth O’Mara has served as the Grayling Township Treasurer for more than 24 years; and
WHEREAS, during her years of service, Grayling Township grew and prospered due to her diligence, Dedication, and professionalism in keeping the township treasury; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the township repeatedly recognized her value by re-electing her to the Position of treasurer six times; and
WHEREAS, she has announced her retirement from her elected office beginning July 1, 2007;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, in consideration of her excellent service to the residents of Grayling Township, the members of the Grayling Township Board of Trustees and her Fellow employees, bestow their highest and most sincere honor to Ruth O’Mara and wish Her the blessings of good health, fortune and eternal happiness in her retirement; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that Wednesday, June 27, 2007, be recognized as RUTH O’MARA DAY throughout the Township of Grayling.

13. Motion by Long, second by Ashton, to approve application from Camp AuSable for a Fire Works Permit for July 5, 2007, with Grayling Township included as an additional insured. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried. (On File)
14. Nicole Devriendt, work-study intern from Kirtland Community College for Spring of 07 submitted her final report and thanked the Board for the opportunity.
15. Motion by Long, second by O’Mara, to approve payment of claims on vouchers 5411, 5422& 23, 5461 through 5498, Board and Comm. fees for May $615.00, Liquor Inspections $120.00 for a grand total of $40,667.88. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.
16. Consensus to schedule 2007-08 Fiscal Year Budget Hearing for 7:00 p.m. June 27, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. to be immediately followed by a Special Meeting of the Township Board for consideration of the budgets, amendments to the 2006-07 budgets, if necessary,and other matters which may legally be brought before the Board.
