GRAYLING TOWNSHIP BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 8, 2006
Members Present: Shawn Kraycs, Dennis Long, Monica Ashton, Ruth O’Mara, Terry Wright.
Members Absent: None.
Others Present: Monte Burmeister, John & Barb Wotring.
Supervisor Wright called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m.
Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance
1. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, to approve minutes of January 11, 2006 as presented. Ayes;five, Nays; none, motion carried.
Record of Private Road Special Assessment District Public Hearings of January 11, 2005 was placed on file.
2. Treasurer’s Report for December 2005 was distributed and placed on file.
3. Correspondence: (No action required) Chamber News, Feb 06; Recycling Report, Jan 06; Building Dept Report, Jan 06; C.C. Sheriff’s Dept Report 2005 Activity Report.
4. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, to approve the Special Assessment Roll for Private Road Maintenance of Timber Trail in the amount of $5,049.50 (includes 1% admin fee) per year for five years to be spread on the December 1, 2006 Tax Roll. Ayes; five, Nays; none, motion carried.
5. Motion by Kraycs, second by Long, to approve the Special Assessment Roll for Private Road Maintenance of Turner Trail (West off Ole Dam Rd) in the amount of $2,777.50 (includes 1% admin fee) per year for five years to be spread on the December 1, 2006 Tax Roll. Ayes; five, Nays; none, motion carried.
6. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, that this board affirms the necessity for continuation of the Special Assessment District for Private Road Maintenance of S. Horseshoe Trail (South of M-72 Hwy) and approves renewal of same. Ayes; five, Nays; none, motion carried. Public Hearing for the tentative Special Assessment Roll will be held March 8, 2006 at 6:30 p.m.
7. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, that this board affirms the necessity for creation of a Special Assessment District for the Rebuilding of Ole Dam Road between Turner Trail and Nottingham Drive and approves same. Ayes; five, Nays; none, motion carried. Public Hearing for the tentative Special Assessment Roll will be held March 8, 2006 at 6:45 p.m.
8. Brian Morrison, representing the Michigan Military Museum, presented a proposal for the organization to lease the Old Fire Barn next to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab from the joint owners, City of Grayling and Grayling Township.
9. Motion by Kraycs, second by Ashton, to pledge $4500.00, over the 06-07 and 07-08 Fiscal Year Budgets as matching funds for participation in the development of the Grayling Area Transportation Plan and instructs the staff of the Northeast Michigan Council of Governments and the Crawford County Economic Development Partnership to implement the provisions thereof. Ayes; five, Nays; none, motion carried.
10. Motion by Kraycs, second by Long, to authorize Township Attorney to send letters to the property owners of 6592 W M-72 Hwy and 2015 Danish Landing Road, that they comply with requests for information needed to proceed with various permit finalizations. If compliance is not forthcoming, Burmeister is authorized to proceed with necessary steps to ensure health, safety and welfare of the public. Ayes; five, nays; none, motion carried.
11. Motion by Kraycs, second by O’Mara, to approve payment of claims on vouchers 4054 through 4107, Board & Comm fees $370.00, Liquor Inspection fees $120.00, Fire Dept Const. Loan $11,040.71 for a grand total of $45,365.03. Ayes; five, Nays; none, motion carried.
12. Motion to adjourn, carried. All ayes.
